2007 Calendar of Events

Winterfest
February 6-7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Lake Hayward.
Drag races and speed races from snowmobiles of all classes.
Family weekend with attractions for all.

Pre-Birkie
February 13, Hayward Lions 17th Annual 25K cross country ski race.
10 a.m. start on Lake Hayward. Awards in 26 classes and top 3 men
and women. 715- 634-6456.

American Birkebeiner Opening Ceremonies
February 25, 11 a.m. The opening ceremonies start the celebration
of skiing on Hayward's Main Street with flags of every participating
nation, lighting of the torch, and singing of the United States and
Norwegian National Anthems. 715-634-5025.

Salomon Elite Sprints
February 25, 11:30 a.m.  Watch the world's finest skiers sprint
for cash on Hayward's Main Street. 715-634-5025.


Barnebirkie
February 25, 1:30 p.m. Bring the kids for some skiing fun too!
Kids ages 3-13 are eligible to ski the mini-Birkie on
Hayward's Main Street. Distances are 1,2.5 or 5 kilometers.
There's no entry fee for this non-competitive ski event. 715-634-5025.

5K/10K Fun Ski
February 25, 6:30 p.m. This after-dark torch lit fun ski
is for the entire family. The 5K looped trail is marked by
torches and moonlight and you decide the distance 5K
or 10K. Hot drinks and food will be served.

Dyno American Birkebeiner
February 25, 8:20 a.m.  This is North America's largest
Cross Country Ski Marathon. 8000 skiers from 19 foreign
countries and 45 United States ski in this 52K race.
The race starts in Cable, Wisconsin and finishes on
Hayward's Main Street. "The Greatest Show on Snow"!! 715-634- 5025.

Cable Area Off-Road Classic Mountain Bike Race
May 22, 25 mile cross country mountain bike race.
Point to point course starting at Lakewoods Resort
and finishing in Cable. Cash awards to top 3 male &
females and age class awards to top 3 male and females. 715-798-3833

CAMBA Fat Tire Poker Ride
June 5, Non-competitive guided off-road bike tour.
Participants ride routes of 10, 15, or 25 miles and draw cards
along the way. Best/worst hand wins merchandise awards. 715-798-3599.

50th Annual Musky Festival

June 18-20, Downtown Hayward. Sidewalk sales, arts and crafts,
ethnic foods, carnival, 10K run, 3 on 3 basketball tournament,

Hayward 4th of July Celebration
July 4 Old-fashioned family fun. Picnic, games, refreshments,

Civil Air Patrol Fly-In Breakfast

Pancake and sausage meal served as a fundraiser

26th Annual Honor the Earth Pow-Wow
July 16-18,  North America's largest traditional Pow-Wow
LCO Honor the Earth Pow-Wow Homecoming Celebration.
Tribes from many nations, speakers, ceremony, sports, games,
food, dancing, and singing. Grand entry 7 p.m. Friday.
LCO Pow-Wow grounds. An event not to miss.


Lumberjack World Championships
July 23-25 Displays, chainsaw carving, novice chopping, sawing, tree
climbing, and logrolling. Professional competition at 1:30 p.m.
chopping, sawing.  Grounds open at 8 a.m. with demonstrations,
Hayward Lumberjack Bowl.

Sawyer Country Fair
August 7  Entertainment for the whole family. A carnival, live music,
exhibits, horse pull animal and agriculture displays, demolition derby and
more.   Hayward Sport Center 10 a.m. to 10 p.m

Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival                                                 
North America's largest off-road bike race.
September 17 - 19   A weekend of  fat tire bicycle racing
and fat tire fun. Registration is limited to the first 2,500.
